Angels are beautiful Heavenly beings that are featured on many of my custom memorials. Over the years I have learned that angels have different meanings and representations to different folks- each beautiful in it’s own right.

An angel to watch over Kevin and to protect him is exactly the desires of his family. It brings them peace to know he is being protected by angels.

Inspiration

One of the best places to get inspiration for your memorial is in the cemetery. Cemeteries are full of beautiful headstones and memorial ideas! This is the idea that Kevin’s family found in the cemetery. Isn’t it beautiful?!

Memorial inspiration is just that- inspiration! It isn't necessarily something the family wants to replicate, but it is similar to what they initially had in mind. They loved the way the angel is resting her arm on the memorial, but would prefer that the angel be looking toward his name- truly an angel looking over him. They also want the angel wings to be more pronounced.

After visiting with Kevin's family, I learned there are many things about the inspiration piece that they loved and many details they felt just were not right for Kevin.

Gaining an understanding of a family’s ideas is always something I enjoy. This allows me to “get to know” the person who has passed away and their family. One thing I love about this part of the process is getting to hear all about the individual’s talents and passions, the things they loved and enjoyed and the great memories they leave behind. It is an honor for me to be entrusted with a family’s memories to create something so beautiful for someone they love.

Collaboration

Collaborating with my designer is always fun. I bring the ideas and the vision and he makes it truly come to life- we make a great team! This is the initial conceptual drawing we put together. Isn’t it beautiful?

Of course, the first concept isn’t always exactly what the family has in mind. And that is okay! In that event we just keep visiting with them and keep sketching until the perfect design has been approved. Sometimes a family needs several revisions and sometimes they only need a small change or two.

After we finish the conceptual drawing we take to the computer and digitize it. This allows the family to get a more clear idea of what the completed memorial is going to look like. We add the text, the photos, everything the family will see on the monument.

Isn't She Beautiful?!

Kevin’s memorial is absolutely beautiful. It is everything the family had wanted it to be and something they are truly proud of. It is such an honor to have worked with them.
