The Amazing Precision Etching

You are likely familiar with laser etching. But did you know we stopped using the laser in 2020? Yep! We ditched the bulky, temperamental laser and opted for something more robust: precision etching.

Precision etched and laser etched images look the same. However, they are very different.

Precision etching is a process that utilizes a special stencil and a sandblaster. Where as the laser simply scratches he surface of the stone, precision etching is sandblasted a little deeper. This results in an image that will last longer as it undergoes mechanical weathering.

Precision etching is also more friendly to the usage of lower quality cell phone photos whereas the laser requires a high quality photo. Since most people use cell phone cameras now, the precision etching allows us to offer a higher quality etched images to our clients.

Etching Facts

Precision etching is not included in the price of any stone. It is an additional charge and the charge is listed in the price book

If a family requests that we create a custom scene for their memorial (ie a scene that requires us to combine images or heavily edit images), a custom artwork fee will apply.

We can ONLY ETCH ON BLACK GRANITE. Black granite has a solid grain and plenty of natural contrast. This allows for an image to be etched without distortion.
